GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Authorities say two Glendale men are accused of stealing nearly 70 tailgates off trucks parked outside Phoenix metropolitan area businesses.
Glendale police said Friday that 18-year-old Nelson Lopez and 19-year-old Jose Cervantes are being held on suspicion of felony theft, trafficking in stolen property and money laundering.
Police say the tailgates have been stolen off trucks in Glendale, Phoenix and Tempe since February.
The value of the tailgates is estimated at more than $150,000.
Police say undercover officers bought some of the stolen tailgates from the suspects, which led to their arrests.
Search warrants were executed at a home and storage facility in Glendale and police say some of the tailgates have been recovered.
Police didn't immediately know Friday if either Lopez or Cervantes had legal representation yet.
