PHOENIX -- Call it a labor of love.

A show scheduled this week in downtown Phoenix will feature baby bumps transformed into works of art.

Maricopa Integrated Health System will debut "Expectations" on First Friday.

Free self-guided tours of downtown Phoenix galleries, studios and art spaces are held the first Friday evening of each month by the city's art community.

Hosted by the 6th Avenue Gallery, "Expectations" is billed as a collaborative effort representing more than a dozen pregnant women, the artists who transform their baby bumps and the photographers who capture the work in progress.

The gallery also will show the work on June 7.

The Arizona Republic reported proceeds from the sale of photography will benefit low-income women and children served by Maricopa Medical Center's Labor and Delivery Department.
