PHOENIX — Scratch book-learning off the list of a bear that was corralled by Mesa police Tuesday night near a school.
Officers responded to report of a bear sighting by Sousa Elementary School at Mountain and Cholla roads. Sure enough, upon arrival, they saw a bear running through the neighborhood.
Police were able to corral the 150-pound animal into a fenced area nearby.
Arizona Game and Fish employees arrived and tranquilized the bear without incident.
There were no injuries to person or bear.
