Metro Phoenix police official comes under investigation
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Authorities said Glendale Assistant Police Chief Greg Dominguez is the subject of an internal investigation concerning off-duty conduct.
Police officials confirmed the probe Tuesday by the department's Professional Standards Unit. They declined to disclose any details, citing a state law which prohibits them from discussing open investigations.
They also won't say what is the focus of investigation.
However, The Arizona Republic reported the probe stems from an encounter in mid-February that Dominguez had with a man who he believed was selling his son a synthetic drug known as "spice."
Spice is often smoked as an alternative to marijuana and was made illegal in Arizona in 2011.
Dominguez is a 28-year veteran and is one of Glendale's two assistant chiefs. He was promoted to the job in December 2011.
