PHOENIX -- Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has vetoed a bill that would have required governments to prominently feature budget totals online.

The letter accompanying Brewer's Tuesday night veto of HB2591 says the measure would not improve budget transparency because it is duplicative and not adequately defined.

Brewer says state and local governments are already required to publish comprehensive budget information.

The vetoed bill would have required governments to post the previous year's actual budget total on the bottom right-hand corner of the agency website's home page.

It had bipartisan support in the GOP-led Senate and House.
