CHINO VALLEY, Ariz. -- State forestry officials say firefighters are battling a 1,000-acre blaze southeast of Chino Valley in northern Arizona.

Forestry official Cliff Pearlberg says the Perkinsville fire started around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He says 100 firefighters on are on scene with small tankers and a large tanker on order.

"The cause is under investigation at this time, so we won't really know [how it started]," said Carrie Dennett with the Arizona Forestry Service. "We're still in the initial attack stage."

Pearlberg says there are structures about a half-mile away, but the fire is moving away from that area.

Chino Valley is in Yavapai County near Prescott.
