GILBERT, Ariz. -- It's unclear if a shirtless man who scaled a Gilbert water tower Monday will face charges.

KTVK-TV reports 35-year-old Donald Christie spent more than an hour Monday morning climbing up and down the tower. He was spotted by an employee at a nearby market, who notified police.

Gilbert police spokesman Sgt. Jesse Sanger says the man got inside and tower and ``did break some items up there.'' It's unclear what prompted him to make the trek, but Sanger suggested drugs may have played a role.

Sanger says he suspects the heat is what led the man to come down the metal tower, uninjured.
