TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tempe police have arrested a fifth suspect involved in a weekend assault near Arizona State University.
Four teenagers are already in custody in connection with the Sunday morning assaults -- 19-year-old Isaiah Everett, 18-year-old Zack Rezendes, 19-year-old Clarissa Casillas and 19-year-old Michael Reyes.
Caleb Everett, 20, was arrested later Sunday. At least one other person is at large.
Sgt. Mike Pooley said the fight broke out around 3:30 a.m. near McClintock and University drives.
Two suspects started a fight with some ASU fraternity members over a girl. After hurting one person badly enough to send him to the hospital, the suspects fled the area but threatened to return with more people and weapons.
Pooley said the two suspects returned with four others and used bats to attack the crowd. Two suspects also pulled out guns and began firing shots in the air.
Police responded to the second assault and were able to stop the suspects' vehicle, but all suspects fled on foot. Officers were able to arrest and charge four of the six suspects involved.
Five ASU students were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
