TEMPE, Ariz. -- A semi-truck hauling 35,000 pounds of plastic bags has overturned on a Phoenix freeway during afternoon rush hour.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the big rig rolled about 4 p.m. Wednesday on a transition ramp on U.S. 60 at Loop 101.

DPS officials say the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60 to northbound Loop 101 were completed shut down due to the rollover.

They say the driver escaped injury.

DPS Officer Carrick Cook said the truck spilled diesel fuel on the highway.

Video from television news helicopters show the semi on its side on a curve of the transition ramp and authorities say speed may have been a factor in the rollover.

The freeway was reopened about 6 p.m.
