PHOENIX -- Authorities say a fatal fire at a Phoenix home may have been started by a 10-year-old playing with a lighter.

Phoenix Fire Department officials responded to a fire at a home about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

They said five adults and five children ages 2 to 11 escaped the blaze, but one man died when the fire consumed a bedroom.

His name hasn't been released yet.

Fire officials said a child admitted to playing with a lighter prior to the fire starting.

They said the child will be required to take a fire prevention education program.

The investigation has been turned over to Phoenix police.
