The American Red Cross sent two members from Phoenix to aid in the relief efforts of Wednesday’s fertilizer explosion in West, Texas.
Trudy Thompson, from the Grand Canyon Chapter of the Red Cross, explained that they will be to help maintain the flow of information between the victims and their families in the wake of this tragedy. She added that they will be directing people to several resources including grief counseling and metal health assistance provided by the volunteer organization.
“There is a lot of need for Red Cross ‘Safe and Well‘. That is a website where people can go on and register and let their families know that they are safe. If you are looking for a family member, you can go to that site and search for your family.”
Thompson said they will continue to monitor and assess the situation as it unfolds to determine the number of people that should be deployed from Arizona for additional support.
