PHOENIX — Phoenix is hosting a three-day event for residents to drop off trash that can’t be regularly disposed of buy the city.
“Propane tanks, lead batteries, rechargeable batteries,” said household waste expert Albert Alvarez. “It can be the rechargeable batteries that you have at home. It can even be car batteries. We’ll take them here.”
Alvarez said the event will also accept tires, air conditioning equipment, electronics, appliances, pesticides and other things. They’ll even take paint, some of which will be recycled.
“If we get some good white latex or tan paint, we can actually use that for graffiti removal,” Alvarez said.
The service is free to Phoenix residents who show identification and their City of Phoenix water and trash bill.
The event is being held from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
