PHOENIX -- A Phoenix woman accused of child abuse after her boyfriend allegedly sexually assaulted her daughter has pleaded not guilty.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 34-year-old Kimberly Anne Upshaw entered her plea Monday. Her next scheduled court date is May 30.

Upshaw was arrested last month on suspicion of child abuse and hindering prosecution.

Court documents show Upshaw went to the apartment of her boyfriend's cousin with her daughter on March 14.

The girl later claimed she woke up to find her mother's boyfriend having sex with her.

Upshaw reportedly told authorities that she didn't know who the suspect was or give out any information on her boyfriend's whereabouts.

Authorities say later Upshaw said she didn't believe her daughter and wanted to wait for DNA results to prove the assault had occurred.
