A Tempe-based solar manufacturer will see an expansion into two new markets: Japan and rooftop products.

According to Bloomberg.com, First Solar Inc. recently bought TetraSun, a Japanese startup company that develops solar panels for small rooftop systems.

With its newly acquired asset, First Solar Inc. won't only produce highly efficient solar panels, but also expand to the rooftop market, as well as the Japanese market.

"It's a complementary technology set that opens to us the entire market," Hughes said
