PHOENIX -- Maricopa County will purchase a building in Mesa for $850,0 to expand its complex in that city.
The county Board of Supervisors approved an agreement Wednesday with Phoenix Newspapers Inc. for the building, which is The Arizona Republic's Mesa office.
Board officials say the county intends to use the building for departments that are currently renting their space.
The county already has Mesa satellite offices and justice court near the facility.
The Arizona Republic reports that its staff will move out of the Mesa building in the next few months although an exact date hasn't been set.
The newspaper is in negotiations for new office space in Mesa.
