The Scottsdale City Council will begin regulating pedicabs after passing a new ordinance Tuesday night.

Under the rules, the bike-propelled cabs will have to be outfitted with reflectors and be well-lighted. They also will be restricted to roads with speed limits under 35 mph, if there is no bike lane.

The vote comes after an accident in January that injured a pedicab driver and his two passengers when a car hit them.

Witnesses told police that the pedicab was turning left when a car struck it from behind.
