TUCSON, Ariz. -- Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly keep pushing for gun regulation although they continue to own weapons for recreational purposes.

Kelly and Giffords were interviewed in Tucson by CNN in a segment that aired Tuesday evening.

Kelly says for target practice, he uses a 9mm Glock with a magazine that can hold 17 rounds.

That's the same kind of handgun that a shooter used in a January 2011 rampage outside a Tucson supermarket that left six people dead and 13 others wounded including Giffords.

Kelly says the Tucson shooter's gun had a magazine that held 33 rounds.

Kelly, a former astronaut, and Giffords have formed a political action committee that seeks to limit the size of ammunition magazines and expand background checks for gun purchases.
