PHOENIX -- The Sunset Point rest area alongside Interstate 17 will be shutting down for parking lot maintenance.

According to a release, the Arizona Department of Transportation said the rest area at mile marker 252 will close at 6 p.m. on April 15 until 5 a.m. on April 19. The parking lot refurbishments will be part of the $2.5 million restoration project of the rest area.

The McGuireville rest area on milepost 297 along the I-17 will be available for driver use during this temporary Sunset Point closure.

ADOT plans to invest $17.4 million over the course of several years in foundational improvements throughout 16 rest areas around Arizona.
