SACATON, Ariz. -- A rollover accident involving a van carrying Arizona Department of Corrections officers briefly closed eastbound Interstate 10 near the Gila River bridge south of the Phoenix area.

The freeway was reopened within a half-hour.

The Department of Public Safety said the van was carrying nine officers to the Phoenix area from a prison complex in Florence where the officers had worked overnight.

DPS spokesman Bart Graves said the van's driver lost control when a tire separated.

He said the most serious injury was one officer's broken leg.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said one westbound lane is open.

The accident site is about five miles south of the Riggs Road interchange on the southern fringe of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
