FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- The Coconino County sheriff is among the victims of a recent string of auto burglaries in Flagstaff.

Police spokesman Sgt. James Jackson says thieves have made off with cell phones, laptops, GPS units, cash- and Sheriff Bill Pribil's personal 9mm semi-automatic handgun.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that Pribil placed the gun in the center console of his truck when helping a friend move on Saturday. He says he remembers locking his truck when he parked at home but later discovered his firearm missing.

Pribil says he'll now be sure to remove valuables from his vehicle.

Police say most of the vehicles had been unlocked. They're urging residents to lock their doors and take valuables inside.

Jackson said Wednesday that no arrests have been made.
