TUCSON -- The man convicted of setting the deadly Pioneer Hotel fire more than 40 years ago in Tucson could be freed next week.

Louis Taylor has been in prison the last 42 years for arson at the hotel although he's always maintained his innocence.

Authorities say 28 people died in that 1970 fire and another died later from injuries.

Arson investigators say recent forensics suggest that the fire could have been sparked by fluorescent lighting.

The Pima County Attorney's Office tells KVOA-TV that the 59-year-old Taylor will be in a Tucson courtroom Tuesday to enter a plea to 28 counts of murder in the fire.

In return for the plea, Taylor reportedly will be found guilty by the court and sentenced to the 42 years he has already served.
