PHOENIX -- Authorities have arrested the girlfriend of an ex-convict accused in a double-homicide case in Phoenix.
Phoenix police announced Wednesday that 22-year-old Elise Andrea Garcia has been booked on suspicion of first-degree murder and unlawful disposal of human remains.
Police arrested 42-year-old Alan Matthew Champagne on March 6 after human remains were found buried in a shallow grave in the backyard of his mother's former Phoenix home.
He's pleaded not guilty and is jailed on $1 million bail.
The decomposed remains of 32-year-old Philmon Tapaha and 26-year-old Brandi Nicole Hoffner were discovered March 5 by landscapers doing work for the new owners of a home where Champagne's mother formerly lived.
Investigators believe Tapaha and Hoffner were killed in a Phoenix apartment in June or July 2011 after an altercation with Champagne.
