FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Thousands of trout are waiting to be caught from lakes in northern Arizona.

State Game and Fish Department biologist Chuck Benedict says springtime is ideal for trout fishing in Flagstaff and Williams.

The department recently stocked lakes in the high country with 15,000 trout.

Lower Lake Mary and Frances Short Pond are two places that received a load of fish from hatcheries owned and operated by the department.

Benedict says pike and walleye should be hitting soon at Upper Lake Mary. He says summertime is best for bass, pike and crappie fishing.
