Tucson mother, boyfriend accused of child abuse
TUCSON, Ariz. -- The mother of a 4-year-old boy and her boyfriend have been arrested on suspicion of child abuse in Tucson.
Tucson police said Friday that 26-year-old Judy Minley and 27-year-old James Robinson each are held on $500,000 bail.
They say Tucson Fire Department paramedics called to a report of a near-drowning Thursday morning instead reported finding a young boy who had been severely abused.
Paramedics were able to revive the child, but they say he was covered in bruises. He was taken to a hospital trauma center and remains in critical condition.
Doctors determined the bruises were the result of ``non-accidental trauma.''
During a subsequent investigation, police say Minley and Robinson allegedly disciplined the boy over several hours Wednesday and put him to bed. He was found unresponsive Thursday morning.
