PHOENIX -- A federal judge plans to rule in a few weeks in Arizona's challenge of President Barack Obama's policy allowing young illegal immigrants to stay in the United States.

The lawsuit heard Friday is seeking to block Gov. Jan Brewer's order denying driver's licenses for young immigrants who are protected from deportation and have received work permits under the new policy.

Immigrant groups argue that Arizona's interpretation of the policy is unconstitutional because the state allows some immigrants with work permits to get driver's licenses, but it won't let immigrants protected by Obama's policy pursue any benefits because the state doesn't consider them legal residents.

An American Civil Liberties Union said Friday that Arizona is creating its own immigration policy.

Brewer's lawyers claim Obama's policy isn't federal law.

    States issue drivers licenses
therefore the state controls who gets one. Remember driving is a privilage NOT A RIGHT. If the feds want ILLEGALS to have driver's license then the feds should issue them. Besides you have to show a birth certificate to get your license for the first time. State law!

If we let them have the driver's license then
the young latinos won't be able to complain about the proposed changes in how the early election ballots mailing list is maintained; they'll be able to drive to the polling place if they don't receive their ballot in the mail. I'm just wondering though, are they too good to use public transportation, a bike, or walk like many of us already do. Linebacker, driving is a privilage for the rest of us, those that are entitled, it is a right. Double standard, the new American way.

    So in a nutshell . . .
Obama leap-frogged over Federal Law, inviting noncitizens to help themselves to our dwindling resources. Then Brewer protected and exercised State sovereignty by refusing to enable and enhance the encroachment in Arizona. In response, the invaders are appealing to our court system to override Brewers protective measures. Whether they are successful or not, Obama is doing a marvelous job in his goal to lay waste to the US. Faster progress than I originally thought.

    No brainer
It's pretty simple. If you are here illegally then you have no legal right to be here in the first place. If you broke the law to cross the border then you are a criminal and have no rights or privleges of an American citizen. If this applies to you and you still think you are entitled to some sort of special treatment anyway, you are probably just a parasite and should realize that you are really part of the problem. If you haven't taken the steps to obtain legal citizenship then you are probably too lazy or too stupid to be of any use to society anyway.

Tried of hearing this group complain. We have others that are more deserving of our attention. Like those that our the citizens stuck out on our streets during this last housing crash and loss of jobs in this nation. More worried about this governments move towards Socialism. We have no leader in the house he is a dismantler.

What a lot of people don't realize is that the only people that will benefit from socialism are the elite. The rest of us will be worse off than before. We will all be on equal ground and brought down to the same poverty level, with no hope for bettering ourselves or achieving the American dream. Worse of all, we lose our freedom.

but doesn't the Constitution trump an Executive Order? Why doesn't some group file a lawsuit about that?
