The Jodi Arias trial has currently cost taxpayers more than $800,000.

According to the Associated Press, since the death of Travis Alexander in June 2008, Arias originally told authorities masked intruders were responsible. However, two years later, Arias said the murder was self-defense.

Amnesia and post-traumatic stress disorder have been the most recent claims from Arias' defense team. Psychologist Richard Samuels testified for a third day on Tuesday that he diagnosed Arias with memory loss as well as PTSD.

Prosecutor Juan Martinez explained that Arias' lies affected the results of Samuels' evaluation and the test should therefore be re-administered.

Although the defense psychologist eventually said that perhaps Arias should have retaken the test, expert witnesses like Samuels will cost taxpayers more money as this trial continues.

    BUT
That's chump change compared to what Arpaio has cost the taxpayers in lawyers fees for defending lawsuits and wrongful death settlements.

Maybe they should bring back the Salem which hunt trails. If she would just shut-up we all would appreciate it. Every photo I've seen her in she just looks like she is enjoying the attention.

    Casey Anthony the 2nd
She obviously followed the Casey Anthony story closely. How can someone reminder the exact date, time, color of his and her outfits and the minute she had sex with one of her ex boyfrieds years prior to killing Alexander, but she doesn't remember killing him? REALLY?

because this is the same defense type of defense you or I could get. The only real problem is that based upon the evidence, she is guilty...and very very loose.

Good point. Wonder how many of those complaining about costs would be willing to forgo public defense, or reimburse the State if they found themselves in the same situation, regardless of guilt or innocence.

The "just play dumb and say, I don't remember" tactic doesn't work for my kids when they break something, why should it work for her?
