SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Officials in Scottsdale said they've identified the location of a water main break that created a sinkhole at the intersection of Pima and Pinnacle Peak roads.

Repair crews are working around the clock and anticipate the water line to be repaired by Friday night.

Road repairs are expected to be completed over the weekend with the intersection reopened on Monday morning.

The main broke Thursday. No injuries were reported, but authorities said one vehicle reportedly was damaged while driving through the area.

    The high hydraulic pressures from
broken water mains will easily drill out roadway substructures in very short order.

    I understand that water delivery
systems where you come from in Ohio, redcav, are generally only gravity fed or hoisted up from wells, and that you use nonflush outhouses. Here in Phoenix we have a variety of up to date state, county and city code specifications on acceptable water delivery p.s.i. If you ever come out to Phoenix, I'd be pleased to have you marvel at our modern plumbing.
