ASU proposes 3 percent tuition hike for all students

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State University is proposing a tuition increase of 3 percent for all students on all campuses for the 2013-2014 academic year.
ASU submitted its proposal Friday to the Arizona Board of Regents, which oversees the state's three public universities.
Tuition hearings are scheduled for March 27 and the regents will vote on the recommendations during the April 4-5 meeting in Tucson.
ASU officials said the proposed hike is the lowest in the past decade.
The specific dollar amounts of the proposed increase depend on students' current base tuition determined by their major, the year they entered ASU and the campus at which they study.
ASU's student body has grown from around 50,000 in 2002 to more than 73,000 students this year.
