PHOENIX -- The bi-annual Stand & Serve event took place at the State Capitol Building on Friday.

The focus of the event was to unite students, schools, families and legislators to address serious issues plaguing Arizona's youth.

Peer educator and volunteer for Stand & Serve Eli Chevalier hosted the event.

"I love doing this, I feel safe, I feel respected and I feel extremely happy to know that we are all here making a difference," said Chevalier, 15.

The main objective during Thursday's event was to address child sexual abuse and sexual violence in general and how to prevent it.

The event was sponsored by Arizona Sen. Steve Farley and Arizona Sen. Michele Reagan.
