The amount of Arizonans on food stamps slightly decreased in the last year.

According to Phoenix Business Journal, federal food stamp recipients in Arizona went down one percent, from 1.14 million people to 1.12 million people at the end of 2012.

Even though that numbered has lowered in the recent year, it is still double the number of people on food stamps before the recession, which was only 628,000 people at the end of 2007.

Still, a record 47.8 million Americans are on government assistance, which is 1.3 million more than last year.

California had the highest amount of citizens on food stamps at 4.1 million recipients, followed by Florida with 3.6 million and New York with 3.2 million.

Is it just a coincidence or...
is there a pattern present regarding the number of people on food stamps. It seems like states that are predominately Democrat strong points seem to have the most welfare recipients. Haven't the Democrats claimed time and again that taxing the "evil rich" will help create a prosperous economy for all. Well, it seems that taxing isn't the answer to wealth, as California and New York have some of the highest tax rates, and yet we see that more people are on welfare in their states then anywhere else.
