Group launches recall effort of Arizona House minority leader
PHOENIX -- A group has launched a recall effort targeting Arizona House minority leader Chad Campbell.
A filing with the Arizona Secretary of State's office Tuesday by the group called Fire Representative Chad Campbell launched an official signature gathering effort. The group has until July 10 to collect more than 23,000 signatures. If it is successful, a recall election will then be called.
Campbell is one of the most visible Democrats in the state and has been considering a run for governor. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2006.
The filing of a recall committee doesn't means the group has the ability politically to gather enough signatures.
Another group is collecting signatures in an effort to recall Republican Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
