PHOENIX — If you want a great place to raise your kids, you might want to set your sights a little further south than Phoenix.
The town of Oro Valley near Tucson has been named one of the best small towns to raise children in America and the best in Arizona.
“We are extremely happy for this recent recognition and I think it proves true that we are on the right path,” said Greg Caton, Town Manager.
According to the Businessweek study:
Businessweek teamed up with Bloomberg Rankings to evaluate more than 3,200 places nationwide with populations between 5,000 and 50,000. Public school performance and safety were weighed most heavily, and to gauge the local job market, we looked at median income and county-level unemployment. Other factors include housing costs, commute time, poverty, adults’ educational attainment, share of households with children, and diversity.
