BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. -- Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is scheduled to attend Wednesday's dedication of a soon-to-be-opened shooting range in Fort Mohave.

The Mohave Valley Daily News reported that the effort to open the Tri-State Shooting Park has been years in the making.

The Bullhead Gun Club was unable to get a renewed lease inside city limits after its shooting facility closed in 1999.

The park is being built on land that was turned over to the Arizona Game and Fish Department by the federal government.

The park's first phase includes a trap and skeet range, a 200-yard pistol and rifle range and a 50-yard pistol range.

Plans are for more trap and skeet ranges, a 600-yard rifle range and more pistol bays in subsequent phases.

    As a gun control advocate I see nothing wrong with this. This is where I'd much rather people go shoot than cactus in the middle of the desert. It's not and has never been about getting rid of all guns, it might be a nice dream but it's unrealistic. This is the kind of place that gives gun owners a safe, environmentally friendly place to shoot. And hopefully the ones with the cowboy mentality leave that at the gun range.

    great place to go and have friendly shooting competitions with your friends. place 10 shots within the black at 100yrds no bracing and you only get 10 shots. shot your initials in the target.
