Tempe couple wins 2nd lottery payout in 17 years
PHOENIX -- A retired Tempe couple has won their second big lottery payout in 17 years.
Kerry and Diane Carmichael came forward to claim the $1 million second-place Powerball prize from Wednesday's drawing.
The Carmichaels also won a $2.5 million jackpot in The Pick game in December 1995.
The couple told KPHO-TV that they're still reaping a $125,000 annuity for their win 17 years ago, but it will expire in December 2014.
The Carmichaels say they plan to consult with their financial adviser about their latest winnings, but will "resist the urge to splurge."
