Arizona saw hunger rate increase in 2012

Despite its economic expansion in the last year, the number of hungry Arizonans increased in 2012.
According to Phoenix Business Journal, 20.9 percent of the people in Arizona went without food in 2012.
The food hardship rate in Arizona was higher than the national rate of 18.2 percent. Specifically, the Phoenix area had a hunger rate of 17.8 percent.
In comparison with the rest of the country, Arizona ranked 14th among states with food hardship.
Arizona came in slightly higher than Delaware on the list, while Mississippi took the top spot with 24.6 percent of its population left hungry last year.
