MESA -- A man entered a Vietnamese restaurant in a strip mall Thursday evening and fatally shot a woman before killing himself, police said.

Mesa police received multiple 911 calls from Phu Thanh Restaurant just before 6 p.m. and arriving officers found the pair dead of apparent gunshot wounds, said Detective Steve Berry, a police spokesman. The dead man and woman apparently were in some type of relationship, but it was unclear if they were restaurant owners, employees or customers, he said. Their names were not released.

Another woman suffered a gunshot wound to her lower body and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Berry said. He said he didn't know if she was a target or was inadvertently caught in the gunfire.

The shooting occurred in a Vietnamese restaurant near Southern Avenue and Extension Road.

The restaurant was open at the time, but diners inside were able to make their way out, Berry said. One person suffered minor injuries in the rush to flee, he said.

Berry said officers were in the beginning stages of their investigation, and he didn't immediately release any details other than saying there are no outstanding suspects.

God forbid you ever find yourself
victim of a home invasion by would be rapist/robbers, at least you'll be comforted knowing that you were statistically less likely of becoming a victim of domestic gun violence by not owning a gun as you are terrorized by your intruder/s. Thanks for the tip Michoacan!

    Way to go,
abo/micho! You've stooped to a new low! Where are your "statistics"? Oh, wait, you must've spoken to that idiot Piers Morgan from the Communist News Network (aka CNN)! Just wait until someone (maybe a criminal illegal invader) breaks into your shack with a gun....then, what would YOU do? I know, you'd let the thug do it!

    All infighting aside
I am so sorry for the folks involved in this tragedy, including the owners of the restaurant. This will be hard to come back from. Years ago, there was a similar incident in "Angel's Diner" at Country Club and the 60, and they reopened, but the business never recovered, and closed months later.

redinsight makes a good point, it's too bad
that nuts like Micho have to be the first to post some sort of useless liberal BS that mis-directs the focus/point of the story. Unfortunately Micho usually fails to engage brain before booting the computer and typing.

the "relationship" angle of the story cited above. No surprise then that he missed the point of my comment. As to dosgays, I understand it is probably your inclination to run from conflict. Not my style, though.

    Additionally Micho, relationship does not
always relate to domestic. Could have been a business relationship, maybe she owed him money, upon shooting her, he feels extreme guilt and turns gun on self, or maybe she was hooker (business relationship) he fell in love with and couldn't stand not having her all to himself. Ultimately it probably was domestic, but why not wait for all the facts prior to jumping to conclusions.
