PHOENIX -- Statistics show that nearly 1 in 3 children living in Phoenix is at risk of hunger.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is partnering with Feed the Children and PepsiCo to bring two tractor trailers full of food to Phoenix on Wednesday morning.

That's enough to help 800 families in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Volunteers will distribute 25-pound boxes of food, along with products donated by Pepsi, to families who present a voucher onsite during the event.

The boxes should last a family of four for up to one week.

St. Vincent de Paul has already identified families that will receive assistance.

Americans Feeding Americans Caravan has helped more than 440,000 families since 2009 in cities affected by the economic downturn across the nation.
