PHOENIX -- Sen. Jeff Flake's offices in both Phoenix and Tucson will be the backdrop for a pro-gun control rally Tuesday afternoon.

"We want change, we want a new way to address gun violence," said Hildy Saizow, Arizonans for Gun Safety. "We want smart measures that really work and address the problems."

According to a press release, "residents who are victims of gun violence, doctors who've witnessed this violence firsthand and concerned citizens will gather outside Sen. Jeff Flake's offices to press him to support gun violence prevention legislation."

Flake is a key vote on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee which will be considering legislation, including universal background checks, this week.

    Contrary to gun nut claims, millions of
    slow witted, would be prohibited possessors have attempted to obtain firearms through legal, background check channels. They were turned away. An untold number gave up the effort at that point, possibly averting many tens of thousands of new instances of gun violence. Other, more determined gun craving criminals simply went to their local, background check hating gun nut to continue their criminal career, no questions asked. Expanding the background check system to cover all gunsles will help shutdown the supply to those who would do us harm.

    Millions! Really?
    Untold number? The "number" is probably 0, and the only reason you used the term "untold" is because you know that the vast majority of them went to another source to get their guns. These criminals did not go to "gun nuts" to "buy" their guns they went to "steal" the guns.

    If gun control worked then
    D.C., Chicago, New York, Oakland, L.A. etc would be nice places to raise a family. Gun control laws aren't about guns being controlled, its about population/citizen control. We're moving closer to the Utopian idea of everyone is retinal checked, x-ray'd, swabbed etc before being allowed to go out in public. When they take our guns we'll be like Mexico, cops/gov who get what they want because they have the deck stacked.

    "vast majority", Misterioso?
    You don't know if that's so. Why do the NRA and its gun nut contingent fight so very hard against research into gun violence that would give us a better picture? I'll tell you why, because the research that has been done to date paints an unflattering picture of gun nuttery. Gun control laws in big cities are useless so long as our largely nonexistent gun trafficking laws allow child murdering Chicago gangsters to get all the guns and ammo they need from no questions asked Arizona gun nuts.

    @abo
    chicago crims dont get their guns from AZ they get them from the same place they get their heroin, cuba and the central american countries. "Vast"? more like "broad" research. Responsible gun owners, whom you call gun nuts, don't sell to sketchy people, ie, criminals. You don't like us because we don't sell to your type because we know you'll misuse them.

    You mistakenly assume, oozey,
    that I consider responsible gun owners and gun nuts to be one and the same. Your error.

    Also, oozey, I'd be pleased to review the
    validated information that you have showing the sources of guns for Chicago gangsters. It is different than the FBI, ATF data that is publicly available.
