MESA -- A piece of luggage that was red-flagged at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport contained an object that looked like a hand grenade but turned out to be an inert souvenir that only resembled an explosive.

In the end, the object was determined to be a paper weight.

Airport spokesman Brian Sexton says Sunday's discovery caused the airport's luggage inspection to stop for about an hour but it didn't force the delay or cancellation of any flights.

The object was spotted at nearly 3 p.m. Sunday during luggage scanning for an Allegiant flight.

No arrests were made.

    Thank goodness for the TSA!
We have been saved, again! This time by a trinket sold in an airport shop! I say these folks deserve a much needed raise for all they are saving us from!! (like 6 ounce shampoo bottles). Yeah, yeah!
