PHOENIX -- The Valley's travel industry is showing significant growth.

Paul Seiferth, owner of Terra Travel in Phoenix and Mesa, noted a 20 percent jump in business from 2012 to 2013.

"Business seems to be stronger this year," he said.

While people are willing to spend money on vacations, it appears they are tackling the planning in a much different way.

"People tend to be more careful with [money] right now," said Seiferth.

People are planning, saving and always looking for good deals.

"Where they might have stayed at a very high-priced hotel two years ago, now they are staying at a three- to four-star hotel instead," said Seiferth. "They are also cutting back on the number of vacation days."

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, "the travel and tourism industry has outperformed the global economy in 2012, growing faster than manufacturing, financial services, communications and retail."

The WTTC also reported the industry increased the number of jobs by five million to 260 million.

    What happened . . .
. . . to the ruination that 1070 was supposed to cause? After all, we were TOLD by the media that 1070 . . . not the economy . . . would instill fear and destroy our tourism industry forever. 1070 is still here . . .

Good for Paula. While she is not
representative of the Valley tourism "industry," her own customer base grew from 5 in 2012 to 6 so far in 2013. Best of luck girl.

Who is Paula, and what does she have to
do with this story? "Paul Seiferth, owner of Terra Travel..." Someone is upset that the commotion has died down in regards to boycotts and such for Arizona. The media and public has lost interest and moved on to gun control and immigration dreams.

    Don't forget that
Micho lied again saying Paula's...err Paul's own customer base grew from 5 to 6. Or the fact that Micho ignored what the WTTC said which helps to prove Paul's growth. Typical Micho. So sorry 1070 didn't drop the % down like you wanted to have happen.

    More minimum wage jobs
If you're dying for an exciting minimum-wage career as a waiter or parking valet, this is good news. If you want a job that pays a living wage, your'e already looking at other states that have a real economy based on real products.
