ORO VALLEY, Ariz. -- Authorities in southern Arizona say a suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal drive-by shooting.

Oro Valley police said 21-year-old David Arnoldo Mota has been booked into the Pima County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police said 22-year-old Joshua Stephen Switalski was shot Thursday night while he was driving and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Detectives interviewed witnesses who reported that occupants of two vehicles traveling in the same direction appeared to be engaged in some type of verbal altercation before shots were fired.

Police officers tracked the pickup truck that Mota was driving and arrested him.

Authorities didn't immediately know Friday if Mota had an attorney yet.
