Woman with heroin taped to body arrested in Arizona
NOGALES, Ariz. -- For the third time in about a week, border agents have arrested a woman trying to walk into southern Arizona with heroin duct-taped under their bra.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said Friday that an 18-year-old woman from Mexico was arrested Wednesday in Nogales in the latest incident.
They said she had nearly four pounds of heroin -- worth an estimated $47,000 -- taped to her midriff.
CBP officials said a 37-year-old woman from California was arrested earlier this week with eight pounds of heroin worth about $127,000 duct-taped under her bra.
On Feb. 21, another 18-year-old woman from Mexico was arrested with about a pound of heroin taped to her midriff.
CBP officials had no immediate comment on this seemingly growing trend of drug smuggling.
