ASU offering new degree in data science

TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State University is offering a new degree program that focuses on the science of data.
It’s an important thing to learn in this information age.
“We’ve got this explosion of data,” said Michael Goul, the Chair of the Information Systems Department At ASU’s W.P. Carey School of Business. “That means we’ve got problems to deal with just the whole size of it all.”
The new program offers a Masters of Science in Business Analytics.
Goul said the program with a local advisory business council that includes IBM, American Express, Honeywell, the Mayo Clinic, Intel, General Dynamics, US Airways, Edward Jones and Charles Schwab, all of which have major facilities in the Phoenix area.
“They’re interested in making sure we can produce the students that can work for those companies,” said Goul.
The program will be underway soon.
“We’re starting in the fall semester, so we’re taking admissions now,” Goul said.
