TUCSON, Ariz. -- A Tucson man who killed his passenger and injured another woman in a fatal alcohol-related crash in January 2012 has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Pima County prosecutors say 42-year-old Daniel Douriet was sentenced Monday.

He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and aggravated assault in December and was facing up to a 36-year prison term.

Authorities say Douriet lost control of his car while driving north on East Benson Highway, hit a road sign, a light pole and a wire fence before veering back onto the road and into oncoming traffic.

Douriet's 48-year-old female passenger was killed and the 26-year-old woman driving another car suffered serious injuries.

The Arizona Daily Star says Douriet sustained head injuries and was booked into jail after spending several days in the hospital.
