PHOENIX -- A Phoenix man accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old foster child has been sentenced to 29 years in prison followed by lifetime probation.

Maricopa County prosecutors said 35-year-old James Christopher Contreras was sentenced Friday.

He was arrested in August 2011 on suspicion of 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of sexual conduct with a minor.

A police task force served a search warrant at a Phoenix home to recover child pornography.

Police said Contreras was arrested after it was found he was in possession of child porn. During the course of the investigation, police said they learned Contreras was alleged to have committed numerous sexual acts with a 10-year-old girl while she was in his care for several months.

Police said Contreras admitted to the acts.
