PHOENIX -- Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton is calling on Arizona's congressional delegation to work in a bipartisan fashion with other members of Congress to avoid the impending federal budget cuts known as sequestration.

Stanton said in a letter to the delegation that sequestration would have crushing fiscal effects on the Phoenix area.

He said thousands of high-wage jobs in the defense industry would be at risk and that education and health care programs would see major funding cuts

He said those cuts could cost thousands of additional jobs and reduce important services.

    The major cuts doesnt mean they are permanent. Look at any business they make cuts all the time learn to do more with less and later the spending picks up when more money comes in. We have to many unions within our government that prevents our government form doing more with less so the major cuts are important

    Congress has already compromised once to raise taxes with the promise of spending cuts. The taxes have been raised, now it's time to make the cuts. After all, the art of compromising means to give a little and get a little. The taxpayers have given, now it's Obama/Congress' turn to give a little by reducing spending.

    Why do all or most say Obama caused this mess, It seems that he is the only one trying to fix it, and it doesen't have to be right now! why not 5 years from now or 3 years from now. Don't people think there are more important things to take care of.
