Maricopa County man gets prison for stabbing dad to death
PHOENIX -- An El Mirage man is sentenced to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of his father.
Maricopa County prosecutors said Albert Rodriguez Arias, 47, was sentenced Wednesday.
Arias was arrested last April on suspicion of first-degree murder and originally pleaded not guilty in the case.
On Jan. 11 he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Police found Pete Arias, 76, bleeding from six stab wounds at his home in El Mirage, located west of Phoenix. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Court records show that Albert Arias told police that he was tired of being abused by his father and he had "lost it" and stabbed him.
