Toddler drowns in San Tan Valley pool

A 1-year-old girl drowned Tuesday after falling in a family pool, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.
The girl was under the care of her grandmother when she fell in the pool about 1:30 p.m. The backdoor of the home in the 34000 block of North Barzona Trail was left open.
The grandmother found the girl a short time later and called authorities before pulling the girl out of the pool and performing CPR.
The child was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to Cardon Children’s Hospital, where she died a short time later.
