A man known as the Calligraphy Bandit has been arrested, the Phoenix Police Department said.

The unidentified man is suspected of passing a hand-written note to over a dozen pharmacists demanding prescription pain killers.

"When questioned, he admitted involvement in the robberies," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump. "It appears that, from an injury he sustained a few years ago, he was hooked on Oxycontin and that was part of the reason given for the robberies."

Crump said a tip from one of his notes led to his arrest.

The suspect was found to be in possession of three weapons and a fake gun he was allegedly seen using in surveillance video.
