PHOENIX -- Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she won't change her mind and allow illegal immigrants granted legal status by President Barack Obama get driver's licenses.

Brewer's comments Monday came after she was asked if she would change her mind following a January clarification by the Department of Homeland Security. That memo says young immigrants granted ``deferred action'' status are legally in the country.

Brewer says that didn't clear it up for her and she's standing behind her August executive order barring them from getting licenses.

Obama in July said people younger than 30 brought to the U.S. before they turned 16 could apply for deferral. They will be granted work permits and Social Security numbers.

Brewer's decision sparked a federal lawsuit by some people denied licenses that is pending.

    Obama created his own class
of alien, something reserved for Congress. Brewer stands her ground and rightfully so.

Brewer joins Arpaio in ensuring that Arizona's
reputation as yahooland remains intact. The Republican Party takes another hit because of her unwillingness to uphold the law. Dreamer's deferred action circumstances affords them the same legal status as other deferred action recipients, to whom the State of Arizona has already issued thousands of drivers licenses.

Perhaps Obama should take some notes on this.

More than the GOP are concerned
with the latest immigration blunders. Many African-Americans (Obama voters) are concerned about Obama’s focus on immigrant rights.

We will wait what the courts ultimately say.
I can forecast that it will Brewer's decision will be shut down. This GED imbecile woman, is the same that "interprets" that the AZ Constitution gives her the opportunity to run for a 3rd term. What can you expect? The direction from DHS is clear, these young people are "lawfully" in the United States with a temporary status.

Wow Chemist so DHS is the one who decided the status of illegal aliens and not Congress? That's the problem with the whole thing. Numnuts like yourself applaud self granted powers by such agencies as DHS, etc.

Why is it okay for Obama to try to figure out how to get a third term but not Brewer?

    Good of Brewer . . .
To try to retain independent statehood. It is a noble effort, but a tall order. And we all know the consequences of daring to cross the Great One in his march on the US.
